Substance Use Services

Millions of Americans have a substance use disorder (SUD), and it remains an important health issue in our community.  Addiction is a disease, not a character flaw.  Addiction is also treatable.  Overcoming an SUD is not as simple as resisting the temptation to drink or use drugs, and recovery may involve a team of individuals and agencies providing different components of therapy.

Like many chronic conditions, treatment is available for substance use disorders.  No single treatment method is right for everyone.  We believe that every individual deserves to receive care from a health care provider who understands their unique needs and has training and skills to meet them.

A number of clinicians affiliated with NWPR have additional certification as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP).  Substance use services include outpatient assessment, behavioral counseling, and referral coordination for clients dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. These services include a full biopsychosocial assessment and individualized outpatient therapy to support their needs.

Clinicians do not provide intensive in-patient or medical detoxification services, nor do they provide medication-assisted withdrawal or maintenance therapies.  Fortunately, these services are available in our community, and our SUDP clinicians will refer when necessary and work closely with these agencies to ensure wrap-around care through the recovery process.
