Dan Shetler, MA, LMHC

Navigating life’s paths can be difficult. Often, individuals are left feeling disconnected from themselves, others, and their spirituality. I will provide a safe space to explore your life’s journey through a trauma-informed lens.

I strive to create a supportive and empathetic environment for all individuals. My approach to counseling is holistic, blending client-centered cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, spirituality, Christian Counseling, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My focus is strength-based, utilizing a mind-body-spirit approach to mental health. My areas of specialty are trauma, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and Christian Counseling. I currently welcome clients ages 18 years old to 65+. My educational background includes Bachelor's degrees in Christian Counseling, Bible, and Theology. I also obtained a  Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin’s University. I have over 13 years of experience counseling individuals, couples, and families in community mental health settings.

Whether you are new to counseling or returning due to recent challenges, the goal is to ensure you feel comfortable and ready to face what lies ahead. I look forward to getting to know you and being part of your journey towards change. Together, let's discover the peaceful path.

What is EMDR? EMDR treatment involves activating components of traumatic memories or disturbing life events and pairing them with alternating bilateral or dual attention stimulation. This process facilitates the resumption of normal information processing and integration, resulting in the alleviation of symptoms, reduced distress from memories, improved self-view, relief from bodily disturbances, and resolution of present and future triggers. EMDR requires fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy, allowing you to feel relief more rapidly. For more information, please visit https://francineshapirolibrary.omeka.net/
