Ernie Hensley, LMHCA
Ernie's mission is to cultivate a secure environment where clients can seek healing, address obstacles, and plan for a brighter future. Utilizing primarily Motivational Interviewing techniques, as well as an eclectic blend of other therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Bibliotherapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Ernie tailors his counseling sessions to the unique needs and goals of each client.
Ernie earned his Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary in August 2023, after a rewarding 40-plus-year career in diverse business sectors such as manufacturing, information technology, and personnel management. During this time, he realized his passion for helping people discover their inherent capabilities, a revelation that eventually led him to pivot from business to counseling. Prior to his formal counseling education, Ernie amassed invaluable experience in mentoring roles within his community and church, working with troubled marriages and individuals encountering life challenges.
Through the process of completing his degree, Ernie has gained hands-on counseling experience across a
broad spectrum of client concerns, including but not limited to grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, and life transitions. His practice includes working with clients ranging from adolescents to seniors, thereby fulfilling his commitment to help those 13 years old and above.
Ernie complements his Motivational Interviewing approach with techniques from other modalities when it better serves his client's needs.
Ernie is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and conducts his practice in accordance with their code of ethics. While he prefers to meet clients in person, online sessions are available depending on individual circumstances.
With over four decades in business, a long-lasting marriage of 46 years, and fulfilling roles as a parent and grandparent, Ernie brings a wealth of lived experience to his practice. His journey equips him to understand the complex tapestry of challenges and opportunities that life brings.
