Kristin Gorton, M. A., LMHC
Kristin Gorton holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon.
She enjoys helping individuals navigate life's transitions, identify and heal from grief and loss, cope with anxiety and depression, overcome family trauma, grow in communication and decision-making skills and improve current relationships. For those who are interested, she also has specialized training in spiritual development and growth, as it relates to mental health and well-being.
Ms. Gorton employs a warm and collaborative approach which emphasizes respect for each individual's values and goals. Her therapeutic style includes helping patients identify strengths and resources to support positive change, considering long-held beliefs from fresh perspectives, and achieving short-term goals which build toward long-term satisfaction and health. After graduating from the University of Oregon, she spent two years living and working in Central Mexico. A fluent Spanish speaker, she enjoys working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ms. Gorton holds a specialized certificate in counseling youth, and offers a weekly group for adolescents designed to support development of life skills, effective communication, healthy relationships, personal values and goals for the future.
